Brain Cancer Sucks

July16

Four years ago this month my beautiful daughter Alana was told she had a brain tumor. Thousands of thoughts run through my mind:

What? My daughter!! This can’t be!”

“We’ve been through so much already!”

“Please Lord; I’m not as strong as you seem to think I am!”

“She’s only 26! She has a one year old baby to raise!”

“YOU HAVE TO BE THINKING OF ANOTHER PATIENT, NOT MY DAUGHTER!!!!”

But it was my daughter! She went to bed one night with a normal life, had a Grand Mal seizure in her sleep, and her life has never been the same since.

Now, four years later, I am humbled by her strength, optimism, and determination to have a normal life for her family. My daughter is very fortunate to have had a tumor that was slow growing and the least aggressive kind. She has a wonderful prognosis of a long future ahead of her, which I have since found out so many brain tumor patients are not fortune to have.

I will be blogging about brain cancer, fundraising for a cure and my beautiful daughter more in the future. I wanted to start with this wonderful picture of my daughter Alana (in pink), and her Joggin for the Noggin Team.  We (I am the one behind my adorable grandson) participated in the Head for the Cure 5K in Seattle last Sunday, to raise money to find a cure for brain cancer.
